The Yard Angels were back at it two weeks ago, giving back to the community through their landscaping work.

A couple named Lisa and Warren have been going through a trying time, with Lisa battling cancer and Warren working 60 hours a week while also caring for his wife. They were nominated for the Yard Angels program by friends.

So the Yard Angels, made up of a dozen volunteers and employees from Creative Roots Landscaping, went to work on Lisa and Warren’s yard with a skid steer, lawn and garden tools, and donated materials from Pro Source Irrigation Supply, Kelowna Home Hardware, and Kelowna Sand and Gravel. “The landscape work completed by you and the whole Creative Roots Team at our house on Saturday is truly amazing,” Warren wrote to the Yard Angels crew. “When Lisa and I arrived home on Sunday we were blown away how unbelievably awesome our yard looked. The front, side and back yards look so beautiful. I can’t express how happy we are to have had this help.

“All of the work done would have taken me months to complete, and you guys did it in one day. TRULY AMAZING!”

The Yard Angels project aims to lighten the gardening burden for three Kelowna residents who are suffering with debilitating illness or injury and are unable to care for their yards. The Yard Angels will be doing projects in August and November as well.
