Donors helped raise more than $100,000 for Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the Smooth Operations Hospital Gala.

A sold-out crowd of 240 people at the Vernon Lodge on Saturday raised money for the Surgical Care for Life campaign, which aims to reduce hospital wait times, increase surgical capacity and improve patient outcomes.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the gala and how residents and businesses from throughout the region rallied to ensure we continue to have state-of-the-art health care right here at home,” VJH Foundation’s Kate McBrearty said.

The evening included a live auction, tasting stations and appetizers, a meet and greet with orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Paul Dooley, perioperative lead at VJH and entertainment by The Underground Circus.

“After five years of fundraising, between Wine Women & Woods and this gala, I am overwhelmed by the generosity of this fine community we live in. Time and time again when asking for donations, businesses are always happy to support our endeavours. We are so lucky to call Vernon our home,” gala committee chair Stacey Donison said.
