The Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual yard sale this weekend.

The event on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the fire hall at 303 Lakehill Rd., is expected to attract people from across the South Okanagan.

The yard sale is supported by donations from the community. Smaller boxes items can be dropped off at the fire hall by the two shipping containers in the back. TVs, old electronics, mattresses, cribs, car seats and hazardous materials will not be accepted.

In previous years, proceeds of the sale have funded the purchase of equipment, training, signage and response materials. A portion of funds raised have also supported BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, Kaleden Community HUB food bank, Kaleden Bursary Fund, Penticton Safety Village and the Muscular Dystrophy Truck Pull.

Unsold items will be donated to local nonprofit thrift stores.

“Spread the word. Bring your friends and family members. Let’s work together to make this day a success. Your support means a lot to us,” the fire department said in an advisory.
