Heading into Dragon’s Den

It’s a long way from her kitchen in the Okanagan to The Big Apple, but that’s exactly where Kiley Routley is going.

The founder of Back to Earth will be in front of the Dragon’s Den in mid-May where she will pitch her line of products.

The Dragon’s Den is a popular TV show in which entrepreneurs pitch their product to a panel of businesspeople.

Routley founded Back to Earth 13 years ago, making products in her kitchen before shifting production to her garage.

Now, after years of research and hard work, Back to Earth boasts 100 products, several of which will be in front of the Dragons.

Routley auditioned for the show earlier this year, but after a couple of months she did not hear back so she thought they were not interested.

But then a few days ago, her phone rang and she was invited to be on the show.

“We are beyond excited and nervous, but really excited to have this opportunity to showcase some of our products,” said Routley, adding many people have contacted her about selling her product and being on the Dragon’s Den may open a door to franchising Back to Earth.

Back to Earth products can be found in many stores locally.

“Right now we’ve got eight employees and we’re hoping to be able to hire more,” she said.

Routley will be at the Dragon’s Den on May 11, but it will be several months before the episode is aired.
