A pair of Kelowna car dealerships have been honoured for their work in protecting the environment.

Kelowna Nissan and Kelowna Chevrolet were on the list when the New Car Dealers Association of B.C. announced the recipients of the Green Star Dealer Awards. They are awarded to the dealerships that sell the highest number of clean energy eligible vehicles.

Kelowna Nissan won the Interior BC award for battery electric vehicle sales, while Kelowna Chevrolet topped all dealerships in the plug-in electric hybrid sales division.

“B.C. has the highest per-capita sales of clean energy vehicles in Canada, and New Car Dealers play a significant and pivotal role in that process,” NCDA president and CEO Blair Qualey said. “For dealerships that are excelling in this regard, the Green Star award is a significant achievement.”

The Green Star winners will be acknowledged at the Vancouver International Auto Show’s opening night Distinction Awards celebration on Tuesday at Vancouver Convention Centre West.
