Jobs scarce in January

 The unemployment rate in Kelowna just keeps dropping.

The figure dipped to a remarkably low 3.1 per cent in January, making it the second-lowest figure among major Canadian cities. Guelph, Ont., is the only one lower, checking in at 1.9 per cent.

Kelowna had a 3.3 per cent unemployment rate in December.

B.C. had the lowest unemployment rate of any province in January at 4.7 per cent, and the national unemployment rate rose slightly last month from 5.6 to 5.8 per cent.
