The future of Kelowna’s old Rose’s Waterfront Pub is becoming more clear with details obtained by Castanet.

Christy Murphy, vice-president of communications at Cactus Club Cafe, says the space at 1352 Water St. has been acquired by Cactus Restaurants.

“At this point in time, we don’t have any plans for this location to announce,” Murphy said.

After 25 years in Kelowna, the business closed its doors in August. Founder Rose Sexsmith says it has been an emotional experience.

“It’s like having your kids move away,” she said. “That is our baby!”

Sexsmith says regulars and staff miss the pub and restaurant, but it was the right time to walk away.

“It needed a lot of work, needed to be totally renovated,” she said.

With the news of Cactus acquiring the space, she said she looks forward to what will come.

“I am really excited to see what it is going to be like,” she said.

Murphy wouldn’t provide any confirmation of what will be going into the space but said the company looks forward to sharing details in the future.

Currently, the Cactus Club location at the Kelowna Yacht Club is less than 100 metres from the Rose’s location.
