Feeling naughty but nice?

The Taboo Naughty but Nice Sex Show starts Friday, Feb. 8 and runs through to Sunday, Feb. 10.

Who knows what you’ll see there?

Last year the Vancouver show made headlines across the world when it featured the opening of the first sex doll brothel.

According to Dr. Jess, a speaker and relationship expert, the topic of sex has become a more open-ended discussion for the public at large.

“While not everyone is interested in sex tech as a field or sex dolls, these technologies help to open up new and meaningful conversations about relationships and sex in general,” she says. “Whether they make you feel uncomfortable or excite you in some way, addressing the related feelings can help to improve understanding and inspire you to communicate with your partner in more creative ways.”

Dr. Jess has a Ph.D. in sexual health and relationship education and will be speaking on topics such as the science of passionate relationships to mindful sex.

Dr. Jess says, in her expert opinion, sex dolls can serve as a catalyst for continuing to shape the sexual conversation. According to experts from one of the world’s leading institutions for sex research, the Kinsey Institute, sex-doll brothels are advantageous for those who might be too timid or repressed to seek out other experiences. They have gone on record to say a portion of the world’s population is drawn toward different forms of sexual expression.

“Dolls and robots obviously aren’t for everyone, but they do provide an alternative for people who don’t have a partner and couples looking for alternative sexual outlets,” Dr. Jess said. “Some couples consider dolls and robots a safe alternative to a human third party.”

Taboo show producer Kevin Blackburn echoed Dr. Jess’ comments.

“As our show name suggests, no sexuality topic is off limits or taboo at our event,” he said. “We want all of our guests to feel they can openly express their sex-positive mindset and ask any and all questions they may want to address.”
