New Year’s Eve was the busiest day in the history of Big White Ski Resort.

The resort hosted more than 11,000 skiers who completed more than 70,000 runs thanks to a fresh 40 centimetres of snow that fell on both of the two days prior.

Visits were also up six per cent over 2018 on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

“It is so satisfying for all of our resort team members to experience Big White during the holidays and when the resort is full to overflowing,” senior vice-president Michael J. Ballingall said in a press release. “Everything was at or near capacity, but more importantly the international guests, locals and residents alike never experienced long lift lines because of our modern lifting system.”

Meanwhile, Big White has teamed up with local gold and silver medallist skier Kelsey Serwa for a national advertising campaign. The 30-second commercial will begin running next week.

The resort is also working with Family Channel on the Big White Jr. Chef Challenge and Snow Ninja Challenge.
