It is commonly known as the Bargain Shop building, or Liquidation World building. Either way, there is a lot of activity at the empty retail space in downtown Vernon.
Originally a Woolworths department store, the building has undergone several changes, but since the Bargain Shop closed several years ago the building has sat vacant.
But the site at the intersection of 30th Avenue and 33rd Street in the heart of downtown Vernon has been a beehive of activity recently, with work taking place inside and out.
The vacant space will be transformed into six separate commercial units.
An artist’s rendering of the project released last year shows several storefronts with a brick exterior.
The renovated building is tentatively scheduled to open in August.
