The team at RBC Dominion Securities in Kelowna has come together for JoeAnna’s House.

The company has committed support of $100,000 over a five-year period. The gift rounds out a decade of giving from RBC Dominion Securities totalling $200,000 for health care in the Southern Interior.

Company vice-president and branch manager Mark Kinnear says his team is “deeply committed to supporting health-care initiatives that provide children and youth with access to the best health care possible in our community.”

JoeAnna’s House, when complete, will provide accommodations for families outside Kelowna who travel with a patient who needs specialized care at KGH.

“At any given time, one in four beds at Kelowna General Hospital is occupied by a patient from outside the Central Okanagan,” Kinnear said.

“But, in the Adolescent Psychiatric Unit (APU) at KGH, over 60% of patients are from out of town. They require an acute level of care and arrive in an incredibly vulnerable state. It is a terrible time to be separated from family.”
