Vancouver real estate’s price per square foot continues to be the most expensive in Canada despite decreases over the last year, according to Century 21’s annual survey on the topic.

Downtown Vancouver condominiums are the most expensive properties in Canada, checking in at $1,347 per square foot. The city’s West Side neighbourhood has the most expensive detached homes at $1,147 per square foot.

Prices per square foot outside the city surged as well, but they are nowhere near Vancouver’s numbers. Burnaby ($599), Richmond ($677) and West Vancouver ($898) all experienced upticks. Chilliwack houses experienced the biggest increase, shooting up 14 per cent to $297 per square foot.

The only Lower Mainland area to suffer a decrease was White Rock/South Surrey, which dipped more than 8 per cent to a mark of $506.

Vernon’s price per square foot is $366, which represents a 10 per cent increase, while Kelowna’s number is $318.
