A Kelowna business owner is up for a prestigious award that will be presented in New York City next month.

Kristy Carruthers, who owns Proforma Inspired Promotions, is a finalist for The Stevie Awards for Women in Business. She is up for female entrepreneur of the year (business products) with 10 or fewer employees. Proforma is on track to reach $1 million in sales.

The Stevie Award is a premier business honour that recognizes the achievements of female executives, entrepreneurs and the organizations they run. Nominations are judged by many of the world’s most respected executives, entrepreneurs, innovators and business educators.

“It is a great honour to be named a Stevie Award finalist,” Carruthers said in a press release. “In an industry that is predominantly men, I think it’s important to have an award that recognizes hardworking women in business. I am truly flattered that my story is being considered for this award.”

Gold, silver and bronze winners will be revealed at the 15th annual awards dinner on Nov. 16 in New York City.
