Okanagan Crush Pad owner Christine Coletta on Thursday night was honoured with the Founders Awards at the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival.

ENCORE Vineyards owner Harry McWatters presented the award to Coletta, who was recognized for her contributions to the B.C. wine industry.

“I was very touched to receive this award,” Coletta said in a press release. “It was emotional to see my name added to a trophy containing the names of people who have worked tirelessly to create a thriving B.C. wine industry over the past 30 years.”

Coletta helped numerous B.C. wineries establish their businesses earlier in her career, and then she launched her own wine, Haywire, along with Okanagan Crush Pad, which was Canada’s first purpose-built custom crush winemaking facility.

Coletta was the BC Wine Institute’s founding executive director, she is a driving force on the Canadian culinary scene, and she is on the leading edge of the country’s organic farming and winemaking industries.
