Affordable housing will be front and centre next week in Kamloops.

The BC Non-Profit Housing Association will be conducting the Regional Education, Networking and Tradeshow event next Thursday in at The Plaza Hotel in Kamloops. The symposium will bring together housing stakeholders, educators, researchers and leaders to discuss the latest developments in housing policy—among a wide variety of other topics.

Some of the sessions include: NIMBYism, Social Media, Public Dialogue & Discrimination; Emergency Planning: When Flood & Fire Hits Home(s); Strategies for Revenue Diversification; and Harm Reduction for Safer Housing.

“Our RENT events are a great opportunity for non-profit housing providers from throughout the Interior region to build the important relationships that are so essential to the kind of innovative housing proposals we’re seeing emerge right now,” BCNPHA CEO Jill Atkey said in a press release. “The educational and networking opportunities are providing much-needed support for housing providers as we mobilize to address the affordable housing crisis throughout B.C.”

The event starts at 8 a.m. and wraps up at 4:30 p.m. It will be followed by a reception from 5 to 7 p.m.
