Unemployment up in Kelowna

Kelowna’s unemployment rate rose slightly last month but remains below the national average.

The rate increased a tenth of a percentage point in July at 5.7 per cent. The national unemployment mark in July was 5.8 percent, which represents a 40-year low.

B.C. has a five per cent jobless rate, which is the lowest mark in the country. Vancouver is at 4.4 percent, while only 4.2 per cent of Victoria’s population is looking for work.
