The B.C. government is sweetening the pot to attract tech talent to the province.
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has been extended for another year, but now tech workers who come from other countries can gain permanent residency with only a one-year, full-time job offer.
Previously, a permanent full-time offer was required for permanent residency. The driving forces behind the change were animation and digital effects companies, whose jobs are awarded on a project-to-project basis.
The PNP was created to fill out the tech sector after all B.C. talent had filled positions. The demand for workers continues to outweigh the supply.
