Numerous Shell and Petro Canada gas stations around the Okanagan remain dry heading into the weekend.
All three Shell stations in West Kelowna are without gas, however, some do have diesel left in the tanks.
The Shell in Summerland has regular gas remaining, but an employee says they are expecting a shipment early Wednesday afternoon.
The Petro Can stations on Dobbin Road in West Kelowna and Peachland are also dry.
However, tanks at the Petro Can on Ross Road in West Kelowna are full. An employee at that station says because they are owner-operated, they are not affected the same way corporate stations are.
Some other stations are apparently also running low because of increased business.
Other stations in the Central and North Okanagan are also experiencing shortages.
While some wonder if the ongoing dispute between B.C. and Alberta over expansion of the Trans Mountain Pipeline is at least partly to blame, Suncor Energy Inc. is shouldering the responsibility.
The company’s Edmonton refinery was shut down earlier this month for regular maintenance, but is up and running again.
It says the shortage should clear up in a couple of days.
