Pete Patterson is the co-founder and chief operations officer of the Kelowna manufacturing company Vitalis Extraction Technology.

Vitalis, which specializes in botanical extraction systems, has been growing quickly thanks to its innovation in the industry and “strict focus” on quality.

In its first year of operation, the company filed patents with more than 18 unique claims, and right now Vitalis has as many as 40 new projects in motion.

In Kelowna, Patterson the other co-owners at Vitalis strive to have a positive impact on the local community, growing the company to more than 30 employees since its recent inception.

The co-owners have primarily hired locally, drawing talent from UBCO while helping students secure apprenticeships.

Although Vitalis is still in “start-up phase,” Patterson and the other owners try to re-invest in the community through their support of organizations like the KGH Foundation and the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

Patterson himself has also worked closely with the Ogopogo Rotary Club and People in Motion.

Patterson says he’s proud of the “dynamic” team at Vitalis and hopes to grow the company to more than 100 people.
