A luxury car dealership in Kelowna hopes to upgrade its operations with a move to a new location.
August Luxury Motors has asked the City of Kelowna to rezone a one-and-a-half acre property on Highway 97 to allow it to build a new facility.
The dealership specializes in high-end luxury cars like Ferarris and Aston Martins, as well as classic cars like the Chevrolet Chevelle.
The property, located at 2800 Highway 97 North, sits near several other car dealerships, but is zoned for a split between agricultural and industrial zoning.
One small, older building, used as a service facility sits on the south side of the property, with the rest given over to outdoor storage for boats, RVs, and other similar items.
In its application to the city, August calls the site “extremely unsightly, “ and says its request to have the property rezoned is “consistent with the OCP and surrounding land uses.”
Should its application get approved, August hopes to build a new, “high-profile” dealership (approximately 27,000 square feet) to replace the space it currently rents at 884 McCurdy Pl.
Council will have a chance to weigh in on the application at an upcoming meeting.
