Plans are in the works for another residential infill project on a residential street just south of the Kelowna General Hospital.

Developers are asking the city to rezone the property at 615 Francis Ave. to allow for a three-storey building that will house three, two-bedroom homes.

In their request, developers say they feel the project fits with the city’s plan for low-density residential housing in the area, as it would replace one home with three.

Because the proposed project is in the middle of the block, the developers say “sensitivity to the neighbourhood was given a high degree of importance” in its design.

Each additional story of the building would be stepped back from the one below it to make the structure feel less imposing and “create a positive interaction at the street.”

In order to build the homes to their specifications the developers will have to remove chop down a cherry and walnut tree on the property, but they say they will plant two new trees as replacements.

City council will get its chance to publicly comment on the proposed project at an upcoming meeting.
