A Penticton roofing company has been fined $1,250 by WorkSafeBC.

According to a recent report, WorkSafeBC inspected an Above and Beyond Roofing Ltd. building site and discovered a fall protection system worn by one of two workers on a rooftop was not anchored, potentially putting the person at risk of an 8.8-metre fall.

A lifeline anchor had not been properly installed.

“The firm failed to ensure that fall protection was used, a high-risk violation,” said the report. “In addition, the firm failed to ensure that each personal fall protection system connected to an anchor was secured to an independent attachment point, and failed to ensure that equipment was capable of safely performing its functions.”

The fine was issued in September 2017, and the official report issued on the organization’s website March 31, 2018.
