This year, Okanagan Edge and the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce have partnered to showcase some of the Okanagan’s most exciting entrepreneurs, through the Top 40 Under 40 program.

Sponsored by BDO, the Top 40 Under 40 recognizes innovative young professionals in our community and showcases their accomplishments.

Okanagan Edge will feature a new honouree each week, so check back often.

This week we recognize Kwame Boateng, an associate portfolio manager at Odlum Brown Ltd.

Kwame Boateng is a young professional well deserving of this recognition.

Boateng graduated from the UBCO Management program in 2013 and promptly went on to pursue his Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He passed his last exam in June 2017 and was awarded the charter this fall.

Along the way, he also completed a number of other finance and investment courses including the Canadian Securities Course and the Wealth Management Essentials course.

In his free time, Kwame takes pride in being a dedicated alumnus of the Management program at UBCO.

Boateng volunteers frequently, speaking to students at third-year orientation, acting as an advisor to the Management Student Association (on which he served during his time as a student), and acting as a coach for the JDC Finance team.

Boateng also attends and supports numerous community events including the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope, the Run for the Cure, and the November Project.

He’s also participating in Swinging with the Stars this year as a part of the November project team. He also serves as a board member for CRIS Adaptive Adventures.

Boateng has truly shown that he is an entrepreneur over the last year as he has made the shift from Investment Assistant to Associate Portfolio Manager.

He has begun building his book of clients and starting his business from zero, and as the youngest investment advisor (and the first student to be hired fresh out of school) at Odlum Brown has already become a leader on the team.

His unique position enables him to be a leader, coach, and mentor to young team members that have been hired since and to students looking at career options for graduation.
