An online marketplace dedicated to promoting local artisans in the Okanagan now hopes to up the profile of local wineries, as well.

Since its launch late last year, the OK Market, an Etsy-inspired website featuring only Okanagan artisans, has billed itself as a one-stop shop for shoppers who want to want to support local crafters and artists.

Recently, the site added an “OK Wineries” section, which lists local wineries, categorizing them by their region.

The new feature offers information on the “faces and story behind the vines,” as well as a shopping option for each winery. OK Market co-founder Jenny Darychuk says she hopes it will one day act as a hub of information about all the region’s wineries.

“We are looking forward to users from all over being able to learn more about what the Okanagan wine country region offers and having doorstep service with our Okanagan wines being delivered right to their doorstep,” she said in a news release.

“It is a great outlet not only for tourists to scope out which wineries to visit but for locals alike to learn more about each winery located right in their Okanagan backyard.”

At the moment, the section features only a handful of the wineries but promises to include more in the future.
