The coveted title for best chilli in Vernon went to Station BBQ.

Hundreds showed up Saturday to eat some chilli and cast a vote for their favourites in the Vernon Winter Carnival’s 9th Annual Chili Cook-off, hosted by the Downtown Vernon Association sponsored by Beach Radio.

“What a great way for a family and friends to spend time together on the long weekend,” says Dudley Coulter with the Downtown Vernon Association. “6,300 ounces of chilli was consumed on this sunny afternoon during the Chili Cook-off and three awards were up for grabs:

  • Judges Choice Award
  • Spirit Award
  • People’s Choice Award

Station BBQ was able to beat out other restaurants like Marten Brewpub, Eatology, Sprouted Fig to claim all three awards.

In the Spirit Award, Station BBQ took first place by 41 votes over The Sprouted Fig and in third Marten Brewing.

Half the money raised in this event will go towards The Salvation Army.
