New perspective on Aqua

The developer behind the massive Aqua development planned for Kelowna’s waterfront will hold an open house tonight, ahead of its Jan. 23 presentation to Kelowna City Council.

Mission Group needs to pass one more major hurdle before it can start construction, and at next week’s meeting it will present a development permit application to city council.

Council first gave its blessing for the concept of the project in May. Since then, Mission Group’s Luke Turri says the company has refined the design to include 350 residential units spread out across two residential towers.

This evening, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Hotel Eldorado, Mission Group will hold an open house, giving curious members of the public a chance to take a look at the project model and design renderings.

The company has also created a new video “flythrough” that tries to capture what the pedestrian experience around Aqua will be like.

“We hope that when the community views this video, they will be excited with the vision,” says Turri. “We’ve taken the commitment to community input and excellence in planning seriously and we are proud to showcase this through this fly-thru.”
