What business or organization are you involved with? Okanagan Cosmetology Institute.
What is your role with that organization? Director of trade development.
What’s your favourite thing about living in the Okanagan? My favourite thing to do in the Okanagan is to spend time with my family and my students. Anything water-related seems to be a bonus during the summer, but I definitely stay hunkered down in the winter.
If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would you choose and why? That’s a tough one..
What’s your go-to happy place? The ocean– without question. For me, there is nothing more relaxing and grounding than salt water and the sound of waves crashing.
What are you most proud of? I am insanely proud of my parents. I have watched them create a school from the ground up, watched them jump through hoops to allow people to accomplish their dreams without having to leave their homes and families. It has been such an honour to come into the company and now offer my take on the industry to the students.
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
1) Visit Bora Bora and explore The Maldives;
2) Scuba dive with manta rays at night;
3) Publishing a book.
Latest movie or book? I’m actually not a huge fan of movies. I am more a fan of TV shows. I highly recommend Power to any one that needs a new TV addiction–after three episodes you can’t turn it off.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? I am a sentimental person. There is nothing more meaningful to me than the awards I have been given from my students, or the hugs from people I have gotten to know. The best gift is definitely the gift of time. That’s something you can never get back.
If today were your last day, how would you spend it? I would spend it with the people I love, swimming in the ocean and laughing until my cheeks hurt.
