Oliver’s Baldy Mountain Resort will officially open for the skiing and snowboarding season this Friday.
The Sugarlump chair and the magic carpet will be in operation Dec. 8, with the third lift to open in the coming weeks.
“After the early November snowfall we had some mid-November rain and have had little snow afterwards,” said Andy Foster, general manager. “Meaning we are not in a position to open the eagle chair just yet.”
“The Eagle chair accesses very rocky high alpine terrain and many of the big rocks don’t have enough coverage to make the terrain safe to navigate.”
There will discounted lift ticket prices offered this weekend.
The First Chair Festival running Friday to Sunday will celebrate opening weekend with prizes, giveaways, guided tours and fireworks.
