Name: Olivia Solano.

What business or organization are you involved with?
The Canadian School of Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker.

What is your role with that organization?
I am a dancer, and I will be performing as Clara in this year’s production.

What’s your favourite thing about living in the Okanagan?
I love that that I get to ski at Big White in the winter and I get to swim at the beach in the summer.

If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would you choose and why?
I would have lunch with Blake Lively, because she is such a strong female figure. I would love to hear her opinions on arising conflicts and debates. It would be amazing to get the chance to pick her brain.

What’s your go-to happy place?
The Dance studio. It is the only place I feel comfortable taking risks and being myself, without concern about feeling judged. I go there so often I basically live there. I can’t imagine my life any other way.

What are you most proud of?
Presently, I take greatest pride in achieving the role of Clara for my tenth anniversary on stage in The Nutcracker. I have wanted to be Clara since I was six years old and an Angel in Act I.

What are the top three things on your bucket list?
1. Be Clara – check;
2. Live in New York for a while;
3. Be a mentor for young girls.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
I was born and raised as a vegetarian, so my friends think everything I
eat is weird!

Latest movie or book? The latest book I’ve read is A Million Little Pieces by James Frey and Rodrigo Corral, a very moving story. The last movie I saw was Marvel’s Spiderman: Homecoming, which I absolutely loved and have watched three times already.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
A trip to New York with my mom, where we watched four Broadway shows.

If today were your last day, how would you spend it?
I would spend the day out on the town celebrating life. I would focus on the things that make me smile and do everything I’ve been too afraid to try before.
