The Okanagan Equestrian Society continues to accept donations following its lawsuit against the City of Vernon which ended in October.

A judge has yet to rule in the case in which the society bid for a return to horse racing at Kin Race Track and substantial and costly upgrades.

The city would like to use the prime piece of real estate for other sports.

“We’re still looking for financial help,” confirmed Maria Besso, a society member. “It’s still on our Facebook page where people can buy debentures, transfer money or write us a cheque as a donation.”

Besso said the funds would be spent on either rehabilitating the grounds if the lawsuit was successful or, if the society failed to win its case, toward legal bills.

Besso said she didn’t know how much was owed in legal costs.
