Ski season arrived at Big White today, keeping with its tradition of opening for the American Thanksgiving weekend.
First lifts roll at 8:45 a.m., and lift tickets are 50 per cent off, with three lifts and 19 runs open.
The Ridge Rocket Express, Plaza Chair and Lara’s Gondola will all be operating.
The mountain has an alpine snow base of 95 centimetres as of Wednesday afternoon and has received more than 14 cm of snow since Sunday, 26 cm over the last seven days.
More snow is in the forecast for opening day, with conditions looking prime for the weekend.
There will be a party at the bottom of the Ridge Rocket Express with live music, free hot chocolate and opening-day giveaways.
The first 500 riders will get opening-day stickers, and every skier and boarder Thursday through Saturday will be entered to win a Big White prize pack.
