The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has brought in a community recovery manager, who will dig into the impact this summer’s wildfires had on businesses in the district.

Colin O’Leary will head up a project consisting of three main components:

-Actively engaging the business community through in-person meetings, community engagement sessions and surveys;
-Quantifying the economic loss in the region, identifying existing resources available and highlighting any gaps in support programs for businesses;
-Recommending options moving forward to address gaps in support for businesses looking to recover from the 2017 wildfire season.

In the coming days, the TNRD will provide more detailed information about this project, including what exactly will be done to engage the business community.

O’Leary’s project is being taken on in addition to other initiatives, including a recovery management resource that was put in place to help residents and property owners in the district who were also impacted by the wildfires.

Businesses that feel they were impacted by this year’s fires can contact O’Leary at [email protected].
