More than a dozen B.C. colleges and universities will come together next month for a free post-secondary information night in Kelowna.

The event, hosted by PSI-BC, aims to give local high school students and their parents a better understanding of the provincial post-secondary system, by giving them face time with representatives from the province’s post-secondary institutions.

College and university reps often visit high schools, but Josh Keller of PSI-BC says those school-hour sessions make it tough for parents and guardians to get in on the conversation.

Keller says PSI-BC’s evening event should help solve that problem.

The evening will feature a presentation focused on the “many post-secondary options and paths for students in BC,” followed by a fair where attendees can get face-to-face with reps from15 different post-secondary institutions.

The event will kick off at 7 p.m. Oct. 2, in the atrium of Okanagan College’s new trades building in Kelowna.

The Post-Secondary Institutions of B.C. are a collaborative group of B.C. post-secondary institutions that work together to support students and high school counsellors the province. The group “strives to assist each student in their search to find both the institution and the program available in the province that best fits their personal and career objectives.”
