Two Kelowna organizations took home hardware from the Startup Canada’s B.C awards Sept. 15.
Startup Canada is a “grassroots network of entrepreneurs” working to help entrepreneurship in Canada thrive. Its annual awards celebrate “those driving impact and demonstrating excellence” across the country.
This year, the B.C. awards were held in Kamloops, and hosted by Kamloops Innovation. Nine “outstanding” entrepreneurs, businesses and support organizations were recognized.
Among the winners were Kelowna-based Hootsuite, which took home the Global Entrepreneurship Award, and Accelerate Okanagan, which was given the Entrepreneur Support Award.
Victoria Lennox, the founder and CEO of Startup Canada, congratulated all of the night’s winners.
“Each and every one of these outstanding recipients have an immense impact on the future of Canada and they all represent the greatness and diversity of our nation’s entrepreneurship community,” she said.
Now, the nine regional B.C. winners will be judged by the National Adjudication Committee (comprised of some of Canada’s leading entrepreneurship and industry experts), and national winners will be named at the Startup Canada Awards Grand Finale Oct. 19, in Ottawa.
