Food Network stars at festival

A brand new, four-day festival will bring top chefs from across Western Canada, Food Network stars and as many as 60 wineries to the Okanagan Valley for a celebration of all things food and wine.

The Chef Meets B.C. Grape Okanagan Wine and Food Experience will run from Aug. 24-27, and feature a series of events designed to highlight “all things grown, crushed, raised and produced in British Columbia.”

The four-day, festival-style weekend will feature dinners, seminars, demonstrations, a Sunday brunch and a massive “Taste of the Okanagan” event, featuring more than 150 BC VQA Wines to sip and sample.

The weekend kicks off with a First Nations Elements Dinner held at Nk’Mip Cellars. The four-course, wine-paired dinner will celebrate Indigenous culture, and feature winemaker Justin Hall, along with culinary creations from top chefs Enoch Cree Chef Shane Chartrand, Chef Matthias Fong and Nk’Mip Cellars’ Chef Orlin Godfrey.

Later, Food Network stars like Chefs Mark McEwan, Connie DeSousa, Nicole Gomes, Trevor Bird, Matthew Stowe will come together will notable chefs John Jackson, Duncan Ly and Jinhee Lee for the Icons of Wines and Food Dinner.

Then, the “Taste of the Okanagan” signature tasting event will see guests spend the day with star chefs and award-winning BC winemakers for a day of masterclass wine education seminars, food and wine pairing demonstrations, over 40 BC VQA Wines to sample, and more.

Miles Prodan, the CEO and president of the B.C. Wine Institute, says the weekend will offer “the perfect opportunity for wine and food enthusiasts to indulge their taste buds and mingle with Food Network stars, iconic B.C. winemakers and top chefs while, enjoying the breathtaking scenery of BC wine country.”
