It doesn’t matter what your job is – if you live in the Thompson-Okanagan, you’re probably getting paid less than the majority of your peers across Canada.

Statistics Canada has just released the results of a comprehensive survey of hourly, full-time wages in Canada. It reveals that salaries in the Thompson-Okanagan consistently come in below the rest of both the province and country.

The contrast is especially stark in the tech sector, where local tech workers make almost $10 an hour less than the national average.

“Fires, floods—now we’re just waiting for the locusts to come,” co-owner Nancy McDonald said with a chuckle.

But barring any biblical plagues, the Blind Angler is now up and running once again.
