BDO, an international accountancy network, has extended its presenting sponsorship agreement for another two years with Kelowna-based On The Lawn.

A unique, step-back-in-time lawn bowling tournament, the firm has helped raise more than $29,000 over the past two years for local charity Elevation outdoors.

“We started On The Lawn because we wanted to use our skills for good and create an event that was different and popular with a younger demographic in other countries,” says On The Lawn Director, Daylin Mantyka. “BDO has been incredibly supportive right from the start. They signed on in 2015 as Presenting Sponsor — even though the event was unproven in Kelowna.”

“On The Lawn has allowed us to purchase a newer larger vehicle which has increased the number of youth we are able to impact each year in our programs,” says Mike Greer, the executive director of Elevation Outdoors.

With success of the event, they organization has also been able to add the Get a Grip rock climbing program.

“BDO is pleased to partner with On the Lawn once again to offer this extremely fun community event to young Central Okanagan area professionals. The event is fresh and different than most, and has quickly become a much anticipated yearly event in Kelowna,” says Mike Gilmour, a BDO office managing partner.

Designed for young professionals in Kelowna, On The Lawn brings three evenings of entertainment, networking, and socializing to the city in the form of a lawn bowling tournament and finale party.

Twenty-six teams of four will bowl it out each week. On The Lawn will provide bowls, music, BBQ, wine, beer, and cocktails, all at Kelowna’s downtown, lakeside, sun-drenched Bowling Club.

All proceeds go to the chosen charity, Elevation Outdoors, which helps young people get involved in outdoor activities.
