Late-night retail therapy

Thursday evenings in Vernon are a little more fun in July and August, thanks to a bit of retail therapy.
For the next two months Downtown Vernon shops are keeping their doors open late every Thursday to give you a chance to get even more shopping in.
Almost 30 specialty shops and boutiques in the downtown stay open until 8 p.m. for Late Night Shopping.
Downtown Vernon’s Parkade is also open until 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays to accommodate the activity.
“Stroll the downtown streets, shop, dine and enjoy some live music at Civic Sounds. With the parking under control and the stores open late it’s never been easier to shop Downtown Vernon,” says Hailey Rilkoff of Downtown Vernon.
“I like how going out for supper and shopping local can go hand-in-hand. I think it’s going to shift the culture of Vernon. In a positive way,” said Pam Taylor, the owner of the Pink Spotted Goat.
Rilkoff says having business hours extended during the summer to accommodate tourists and attract local families and residents will also provide a “vibrant community atmosphere” in the city.
