A transplant from Iqaluit will soon take over as the new regional dean for the South Okanagan-Similkameen at Okanagan College.

Eric Corneau will come to OC from Nunavut Arctic College  in Iqaluit, where he has worked for the last nine years, most recently as Vice President.

At NAC he was “instrumental” in the development of new partnerships and programs, involving extensive consultation with Indigenous peoples, community, industry and various levels of government.

Corneau holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration and a graduate certificate in Public Management and Governance from the University of Ottawa, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science with a Major in Community and Public Affairs from Concordia University.

Corneau will start his new job Aug. 28.

“We are confident that Eric’s depth of experience and proven track record for supporting learner success and empowering staff to excellence will enable him to thrive in his new role,” says Okanagan College’s vice president of students, Charlotte Kushner.

Corneau himself says he’s “eager” to work with the students at OC, and to build on the college’s relationships with local First Nations, industry, donors, government and alumni.

Corneau will take over for Donna Lomas, the previous Regional Dean, who retired in December 2016 after holding the position from more than a decade.
