It was a solid showing for Okanagan craft breweries at the Canadian Brewing Awards last weekend.

A quartet home-grown brews took home awards at the prestigious campetition, which aims to recognize the best beers and ciders from across the country.

More than 1,700 products from 333 Canadian breweries and cideries were entered into the competition, duking it out in more than 60 categories.

From that bounty of beverages, four beers from three Okanagan breweries were given the nod.

Penticton’s Cannery Brewing Company had the biggest showing, winning two medals, including a gold for its “Kiek in de Kök ” Baltic Porter. It also bagged a bronze for its Thornless Blackberry Porter, in the Flavoured Stout or Porter category.

Also making Penticton proud was the Bad Tattoo Brewing Company, which scored a silver medal for its Los Muertos Cerveza Negra, in the North-American-Style Amber Lager category.

Finally, Kelowna’s Tree Brewing Company nabbed a silver medal in the North-American-Style Dark Lager category, for its Red Lager.

In addition to the honoured hops, the BC Tree Fruits Cider Company’s Broken Ladder Apples and Hops cider earned a silver in the Cider With Herbs and Spices category.

On its Facebook page, Cannery Brewing said it was “so delighted” to win the awards, and gave a shoutout to all the B.C. craft breweries for their “amazing showing” at the competition.

In addition to the B.C shops whose beers won awards at this year’s competition, Revelstoke’s Mt. Begbie Brewing Company took home Brewery of the Year.

Bad Tattoo, who’s employees “geeked out” at their brewery in front of a livestream of the awards, thanked everyone who supported them to get to this point.

“We love what we do and look forward to many more years of fun,” the brewery said on Facebook.
