The South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation has hired  Liz Grosch as its new director of finance.

Grosch will manage the foundation’s finances and handle equipment funding requests from Penticton Regional Hospital and several other Interior Health facilities in the region.

With an extensive accounting background, most recently in the Okanagan wine industry,  SOS Medical Foundation’s Executive Director Carey Bornn says Grosch will be a great asset to the foundation’s team.

“Liz has fantastic accounting knowledge and experience which will help us not only have confidence in our finances going forward, but I believe will help us to continue to improve our processes,” he said.

The South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that aims to preserve the quality of health care delivery in the South Okanagan-Similkameen.

Through donations from individuals, businesses and organizations the foundation helps fund medical equipment, staff education and other special patient comfort programs.

Right now the foundation is in the middle of a $20 million fundraising campaign for medical equipment  for the David E. Kampe Tower, which is still under construction at Penticton Regional Hospital.

The new, six-storey tower will be finished by the spring of 2019, when work begins on a major upgrade to the PRH emergency department.

Grosch takes over for Leah Schulting, who recently became Executive Director for Canadian Mental Health Association in Penticton.
