He's Got the Edge
A light-hearted Q&A with the people who make the Okanagan work

Andy Jones
Okanagan Edge Staff - Apr 21, 2017 - Got the Edge

Name: Andy Jones.

What business or organization are you involved with? Kelowna Honda Powerhouse.

What is your role with that organization?
Owner/general manager

What’s your favorite thing about living in the Okanagan?
Within 15 minutes of my home I can be on a “staycation” and enjoy all that the valley has to offer. Being a power sports enthusiast this allows me to enjoy any aspect of the industry at any time of the year. Plus, after living in Winnipeg for 32 years, how can I complain?

If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would you choose and why?
Buddha. I feel he would bring me great inner peace and happiness, while making me feel proud of my naturally obtained physique.

What’s your go-to happy place?
Strapping on a helmet and either riding a street or dirt bike to the best of my ability. Borderline scaring the heck out of myself, and then coming home to a cold beer to celebrate.

What are you most proud of?
I’d like to think my contagious sense of humour and the ability to make anyone laugh – but the ability to read people, and help motivate them to achieve anything they want in life is more realistic. Failing that, probably when I conquered the Mountain Man burger challenge at a
local pub.

What are the top three things on your bucket list?

-Be able to ride my motorcycle across Canada and the U.S. while hitting all the famous destinations and best riding roads along the way;
-Travel through Europe;
-And, honestly, I’ve had such an awesome, rewarding life that I would like to take a misfortunate person and give them one of the best days of
their life and offer them everything I can to remind them how fun life can be, while inspiring them to thrive to get ahead. It’s not the material things that make our life great.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
A quarter.

Latest movie or book: The Four Obsessions of an Extraordinary Executive, a gift from my brother.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
The ability to buy into a business that I put so much sweat equity into and be able to use everything I’ve learned in my lifetime to help grow and succeed as a team.

If today were your last day, how would you spend it?
Visiting all my family and friends and thanking them for everything they’ve done for me or taught me over the years, which has transformed me into the “awesomistic” person I have become!
