100 Women Who Care Penticton is getting ready to hold its first event of 2017, April 5, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Play Estate Winery and Bistro.

The collective holds four events a year, with members donating $50 per event to three different charities. Since the group formed in 2013, it has donated $40,000 to 17 local charities and non-profits.

“With it being our first event we are expecting a really great turnout,” said committee member Sarah Trudeau.

The group has 147 members, but usually see anywhere from 70 to 120 people at it’s events, which include food and $5 glasses of wine.

Three charities have already been selected to receive grants from 100 Women at this event, and will be presenting to the crowd.

For anyone who wants to get involved, Trudeau says this is the perfect time for them to see what 100 Women is all about.

“There is never any pressure to join… you can just come, check out the event, see what its about and see if it’s something you are interested in doing.”

Those who decide they want to join are expected to pay all four quarterly installments ($200) up front for 2017.
