A 2016 Pinot Gris from an Okanagan Falls winery has topped more than 900 entries to win at a the Cascadia Wine competition.

Wild Goose Vineyards took top honours with Best in Class, Best White Wine and the ultimate prize of Best in Show.

Eight gold medals were awarded to Wild Goose wines including three best in class and four double gold medals.

“We are beyond thrilled” said Winemaker Hagen Kruger. “It was truly a team effort, from the vineyards right through to putting the wines into the bottle.”

Winners included their 2016 Gewurztraminer, 2016 Mystic River Gewurztraminer, 2015 Red Horizon Meritage, 2016 God’s Mountain Riesling, 2016 Riesling, 2016 Rosé, and 2016 Autumn Gold.

The competition is in its fifth year and is held in Oregon with invitations to vineyards in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and British Columbia.

“This was also the last vintage my father ever experienced and a great tribute to him! We could not be happier,” said Kruger.

BC wineries accumulated 45 gold medals from the competition.
