In just a few days Kelowna’s Co+Lab will be undergoing the biggest expansion in its history.

As Accelerate Okanagan takes up residence in the new Okanagan Centre for Innovation, Co+Lab will be swooping in to take over the accelerator’s old office space at 1405 St. Paul Street.

This expansion will double Co+Lab’s floorspace from 6,000 to 12,000 square feet, and will enable the coworking space to provide members with a suite of new amenities such as a lecture hall, new lounges and a new dark fibre Internet connection.

Of course it also means adding new private offices, hot desks and event spaces to its ever-expanding operations, giving Co+Lab the opportunity to take on new members, and accommodate larger operations than it ever could before.

In its new space, Co+Lab will offer a total of 25 Hot Desks, 22 private executive offices, five board rooms and meeting spaces, two kitchen lounges, and “one amazing workspace solution,” says “Chief Rabble Rouser” Shane Austin.

“We are very excited that we can leverage our existing space and add additional offices, and I’m personally excited about the new kitchen and plaza coffee bar. We’ll be renovating our event space that can accommodate up to 50 people – the update was long overdue,” he added.

Since its inception in 2011, the Co+Lab has been steadily expanding, as the tech industry in Kelowna flourishes and more entrepreneurs strike out into the world.

As more and more people begin working remotely, or in small, startup operations, cowering spaces are becoming more in-demand – especially in a tech hub like Kelowna. Austin says Co+Lab has been at 95 per cent capacity for a while now, so the new office space will be a very welcome addition.
