On March 16 Vibrant Vines Winery will host a special event promoting dementia awareness.  

The the Kelowna Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s event will feature city councilor Maxine DeHart as master of ceremonies, with additional speakers sharing insights about the dementia journey. 

The event will run from 5-7 p.m., with speakers including Karen Erickson, the regional director, of Investors Group, Maria Howard, the CEO of the Alzheimer Society of B.C., Deanna Mathewson, a volunteer with the Alzheimer Society of B.C. and UBC’s  Dr. Andis Klegaris.

The Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s is Canada’s biggest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

It’s billed as a “fun and family-friendly way to create new memories while sending a message of hope to Canadians … living with dementia.”

The 2017 Kelowna event honours all caregivers and will take place on Sunday May 7, at 1 p.m. at Kelowna City Park.
