KCR Community Resources (KCR) will be hosting a community information session, titled “Explore YOUR Possibilities!”, on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  The session will be held at KCR’s new office building downtown, on 2nd Floor, 620 Leon Avenue.  People 55 years of age or better are encouraged to pre-register and explore the opportunities available to them, in our beautiful valley.  Whether you are new to the community, need to make new connections, or get reconnected, this session can open the door to the possibilities awaiting you.

“There was so much demand for the information sessions this past November that we have decided to continue to help older adults get connected and stay connected with their communities,” says Stephanie Moore, Project Coordinator.  The information session content was developed with support from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.

To someone who has become disconnected from their community through health issues, relocation, family commitments, loss of independence, or loss of a spouse, loneliness and social isolation are real concerns.   “I look at my friends in early retirement and they are busier than when they were working.  However, their busy-ness is due to short term commitments.  What happens to their sense of purpose when these commitments disappear?  This could be a time when people need to search for new connections in their community,” Stephanie suggests.

Space is limited, please register in advance.  To register for this free community information session, call Stephanie at 250-763-8008 ext. 141 or click here to register online.
