Saturday Night Fever, Dirty Dancing, Grease and Singing in the Rain are a few of the movie-themed dances that will grace the stage at the ninth-annual Swinging with the Stars fundraiser.

The popular event is the largest fundraiser of the year  for the Central Okanagan Hospice Association.

The “Dancing with the Stars” inspired show pairs professional dance instructors with community-minded individuals wanting to take on the challenge to become “dancing stars.”

“This year’s theme has a twist with our dancers performing choreographed routines from famous movies,” says Jan Woolsey, Swinging with the Stars coordinator. “We wanted to shake things up a bit in our ninth year and adding the dimension of famous dances from movies will definitely add some great entertainment value for our guests attending.”

This year’s dancers run the gamut, and include everyone from Vincent Jones and Valaura Vedan to Reg Sahay, an RCMP Constable with the Kelowna Police Dog Service.

“Each year, we ask our local dance studios to participate and they rarely say no to us. We thank these committed and enthusiastic professionals who give so much of their time – literally close to one hundred hours in a volunteer capacity,” Woosley said.

This semi-formal event will be held at the Delta Grand Resort on March 18. There are still a few tickets left, which can be purchased by calling Kathy at 250-864-0533.
