The competition among B.C. wineries is fierce, but when it spills over onto the ski hill this weekend it’s bound to get even fiercer.

Winemaker’s, proprietors, vineyard managers and other’s from BC’s wine industry will come  together this weekend to compete in the 10th Annual Cellar-Tek Winemaker’s Cup at Big White Ski Resort.

The competition, a downhill ski race that begins at 11 a.m. at Big White’s Lower Speculation run, is open to wine industry powderhounds of all ages.

This year, 75 people will compete for the Winemaker’s Cup, it’s largest turnout in 10 years.

“It’s an opportunity for the wine industry to create a great sense of camaraderie and to remember we are all in this together,” says Glenn Fawcett, President of Black Hills Estate Winery, a major sponsor of the event. “It’s events like this that help make the BC wine industry strong.”

Along with the downhill race, the Winemaker’s Cup weekend also includes a Hot Tub Time Machine theme party on Friday, a lunch, a dinner with the awards ceremony and finishes with a silent disco party Saturday night.

Along with support from Cellar-Tek and Black Hills Winemaker’s Cup is possible through partnerships with Big White Ski Resort and ATS Healthcare, as well as numerous other wine industry sponsors.
