After being shuttered for more than four months in the wake of an arson attack, Thai Fusion has once again reopened.

The popular West Kelowna restaurant was forced to close in early October after someone broke in during the night and set the restaurant on fire.

The fire did significant damage, and cost owners Atsawin (Luke) Sumpantarat and his wife Atchara (Ess) more than $100,000. It was also only the latest in a series of targeted vandalism incidents.

Now, with beefed-up security installed and an brand new interior finally ready, the restaurant reopened to the public Feb. 22.

On the restaurant’s Facebook page yesterday Sumpantarat celebrated the opening and thanked his customers for their patience.

“Thank you all for waiting as we got everything fixed up and polished for your return. We are thrilled to be back. Please continue to be the great, patient people we know you are as these next few weeks are going to be, understandably, busy. We promise, you will all get your fix of Thai Fusion,” he wrote.

Reaction to the news online was swift and celebratory, and last night the restaurant appeared to be doing steady business.
